Male drivers accounted for 80,6% (698 695) of collisions in South Africa in 1998 as against 19,4% (167841) accidents involving female drivers. Motor car drivers accounted for 62,5% of the total number of drivers involved in collisions, followed by drivers of light delivery vehicles, bakkies or panel vans(16,3%), and drivers of minibus/combi-type vehicles (8,0%).
